HUTAN MELINTANG: A four-year-old girl was injured when she fell from a Ferris wheel at a fun fair here yesterday.
In the 9.30pm incident, the victim broke her right leg, injured her wrist and face after she fell five-meter from the ride.
Her 26-year-old uncle said during the incident, his niece was with her parents at the fun fair and she was excited to ride the Ferris wheel.
“My niece was already inside the capsule but her parents were yet to enter when it suddenly moved, causing the latter to yell for the operator to stop the machine.
“The Ferris wheel stopped moving but my niece was already halfway through the rotation. She fell before the wheel could be lowered,” he said when met at the Teluk Intan Hospital here today.
He added that there were several visitors who witnessed the incident and they tried to catch the victim but failed, causing the girl to fall on the ground.
“Her parents then immediately brought her to the nearby clinic before she was referred to the hospital for further treatment.
“The victim will undergo a surgery and her family has yet to decide whether to take legal action against the fun fair operator,” he added.
It is learnt that a police report on the incident has been lodged by the residents there, and they claimed that there are many rides at the fun fair that seem unsafe.
Meanwhile, a representative of the fun fair confirmed on the incident and said they would let the police to investigate the incident.
Checks at the fun fair that has been operating for three days found it to be closed today.
