PH to implement effective election strategy for Tanjung Piai by-election

PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) will plan effective and improved strategies to win the Tanjung Piai by-election on Nov 16.

PH deputy president and Johor PH election chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the coalition had taken into account the past experiences, including the defeat at the Semenyih by-election.

"We have received many responses and feedbacks. We have also done post-mortems of the previous by-elections.

"Therefore, for the Tanjung Piai by-election, we will plan a better and more effective strategy.

"This includes thorough campaigning, which means reaching out to every person in the constitution to explain on the current issues affecting the country," he said during a press conference after the launching of Security and Public Order Policy (DKKA) today.

Muhyiddin, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president and Home Minister, said some of the issues, including policies of the PH government, are not effectively understood by the people.

"I'm going to Johor tomorrow where I would chair the PH Election Committee Meeting with central and state leaders, to discuss on an effective election machinery structure in Tanjung Piai.

"Another meeting with PH election committee will also be held to discuss on the measures and steps to take to ensure we win and defend the Tanjung Piai seat," he added.

When asked on the candidate chosen by the party, Muhyiddin said the coalition has shortlisted the candidates.

"We will look into all the candidates carefully and make sure the selected candidate is accepted in the community," he added.

It was reported that the meeting tomorrow is expected to decide on a Bersatu candidate for the Tanjung Piai parliamentary by-election.
