Wisma Putra ready to help family of deceased Malaysian in Turkey accident

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry is ready to help the family of the deceased involved in the Turkey accident.

Its minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said the ministry will wait for any request from the family of the deceased to bring the body home.

It was reported that a tour bus with 35 Malaysians were involved in an accident in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, on Wednesday.

Wisma Putra confirmed that a Malaysian was killed, while another 10 Malaysians were injured when the bus was travelling from Pamukkale to Cappadocia.

The passengers were from the Selangor State Development Corporation's (PKNS) corporate communication division.

“Malaysia’s representative in Turkey has contacted the Malaysians involved where 10 of them are being treated in the hospital while one has died.

“Since they are Malaysian tourists who are PKNS officers, I believe PKNS will assist in arranging the officers home.

“For the deceased, as of now we are unsure what is the family’s next step. However, we will wait for any request of help from the family,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKNS corporate communication division, in a statement confirmed that a bus with 35 of its staff was involved in the accident in Turkey.

It received a report on the accident from the Malaysian Embassy in Turkey.
