Indonesian national stabs businessman to death after being shouted at

LIMBANG: Angry about being shouted at after his request for travel fare was turned down, an Indonesian national stabbed a businessman to death.

The incident took place on Sunday morning at Pekan Tedungan, here.

Limbang district police chief superintendent Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the victim, identified as Ting Kok Khoi, 62, died on the spot.

In the 7am incident, the suspect was said to have approached the victim and asked for money to travel to Limbang town.

The businessman not only rejected the suspect’s request, but also yelled at him.

This infuriated the Indonesian national in his 30s, who stabbed the victim multiple times with a vegetable knife.

“The victim collapsed and was found lying in a pool of blood next to his four-wheel drive (4WD),” he said.

Abang Zainal said preliminary investigations showed that the suspect had come to Limbang for a day and needed money to return to Indonesia to take care of family affairs, urgently.

“Police are still investigating to determine the real cause of the incident and we urge witnesses to come forward to give information,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
