KUALA LUMPUR: Galeri Prima is displaying a range of artworks from renowned artists for public preview before they go under the hammer next month.

Some of the highlights include a special Tribute to Batik Art Masters section, offering distinctive works from Datuk Chuah Thean Teng, Khalil Ibrahim, and Ismail Mat Hussin.

The auction is organised by Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers (HBAA).

In conjunction with HBAA’s 10th anniversary, a special charity auction, titled the Blue Art Centre (BAC) Project, will also be held, featuring 16 quality works by prominent contemporary artists such as Yeoh Choo Kuan, Hasanul Isyraf Idris, Haffendi Annuar, Wong Perng Fey, Nadiah Bamadhaj, Minstrel Kuik, Tan Wei Kheng, Svay Sareth, Yim Maline, Natee Utarit and many others.

HBAA Director, Sim Polenn, said the BAC Project was introduced in 2011 with a mission to provide arts education and vocational training to underprivileged Cambodian children.

All proceeds raised will go to BAC’s coffers to build an art school.

"HBAA aims to raise more than RM200,000 for this meaningful initiative," he said.

He added that the HBAA auction will feature a wide spectrum of Southeast Asian works comprising established masters and contemporary artists as well as young talents.

The auction will be held at 1pm on Nov 3.

The preview, which is open to the public, runs daily until Nov 2 from 10am to 6pm at Galeri Prima, Balai Berita Bangsar, 31, Jalan Riong, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
