KUALA LIPIS: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah made a surprise visit to Chinese New Village in Benta, Kuala Lipis which was destroyed in an early morning fire today.

His Majesty left for Benta shortly after the arrival of the Rulers for the 255th meeting of Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

The King arrived in a helicopter at the field of Sekolah Kebangsaan Benta at 11.53am before making his way to the village in a waiting SUV.

In the 1.08am fire, a total of 15 houses were destroyed, but fortunately, there were no casualties reported.

During the visit, Agong reminded the people to be vigilant and pay attention to old and dilapidated buildings, especially in the aspect of electrical wiring that could cause harm.

“Even though all the villagers are safe, this should serve as a reminder to all of us on the danger of an incident such as this, which can happen at any time if we are not careful,” he said.

His Majesty also expressed his sympathy towards the victims and hoped that all relevant parties will give assistance.

“District office and relevant offices will make a report on this and we will work on gathering sources to replace belongings that were destroyed in the fire,” said the King, who also gave some donations to the victims during the visit.
