BELURAN: A three-year-old girl was stuck inside a washing machine for almost an hour before firemen rescued her at Taman Pandan, here, yesterday.
In the 3.30pm incident, the girl was playing near the machine and was said to have climbed on top of the machine using a chair.
She however, lost her balance and fell into the compartment, unable to get out.
Eight firefighters were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 3.51pm. They found the girl crying.
"We were made to understand that the girl fell into the machine after climbing onto it.
"The rescue team had to put washing detergent on the girl's body in order to get her out," said district fire and rescue department chief Rastam Keladi.
He added the rescue operation took 20 mintues and the girl did not sustain any injuries.
