MAS flight to Beijing returns to KLIA hours after take off

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, China returned to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) several hours after taking off on Saturday afternoon.

Flight MH360, which took off from KLIA at 6pm, was scheduled to land in the Chinese capital at 12.20am today.

But according to the flight-tracking website, flightradar24.com, the airliner went into a holding pattern over the Melaka Strait at about 8pm, before returning to KLIA, where it landed safely.

The reason for MH360’s return is unclear.

A Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) customer service officer contacted by Harian Metro confirmed the incident, but declined to divulge the reason behind the flight turning back.

MH360 is believed to have departed for Beijing once again at about 12.30am today, but it is unknown if the same aircraft was used.
