Azmin must explain meeting with BN MPs, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali owes the party an explanation over his meeting with Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs last night.

PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this was because the meeting had raised questions among PKR leaders and members.

Anwar said he was not sure whether Azmin held the meeting in his capacity as a PKR party leader, or if it was done in his capacity as a member of the government administration.

“I don’t know. That’s why it is best to explain whether it was based on the party’s capacity or the government’s,” he said in Parliament today.

“But if (it was in the capacity of) the government, why were the other MPs not invited?”

PKR will hold its political bureau meeting tomorrow.

Asked whether Azmin would have to attend the party’s meeting tomorrow, Anwar said: “Yes, as the party’s deputy president he should attend the meeting.”

It was reported that several MPs had gathered at Azmin’s residence in Precinct 10, Putrajaya, last night.

However, the reason for the meeting and the number of lawmakers involved remains unknown.

Among those spotted leaving the residence were Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar and Cameron Highlands MP Ramli Mohd Noor.
