Mat Sabu: Melaka govt stable despite state assembly incident

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu has given assurances that the Melaka government, which is led by a chief minister from his party, is stable despite a setback where a motion was rejected due to lack of assemblymen quorum.

On Monday, Chief Minister Adly Zahari’s motion to appoint PKR state chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Bachik as a senator to the Dewan Negara was rejected due to the absence of two PKR assemblymen during the voting process.

The motion received 12 votes of support and 13 against.

Two assemblymen — Rembia assemblyman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis and Machap Jaya assemblyman Datuk Ginnie Lim Siew Lin — left the hall before the tabling of the motion by Adly who is also the state Amanah chairman.

Mohamed said the incident would be addressed by PKR.

PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had said that he would seek clarification from Lim and Muhammad Jailani on the matter.

“PKR has proceeded to take action (over the matter). The government is still safe (stable). There is nothing to worry about as the problem is being resolved by PKR,” he said at the Parliament lobby.
