Kelantan flood situation improves

KOTA BARU: The flood situation in Kelantan has shown signs of improvement, with only Sungai Golok above the danger level today. The water levels of the other rivers have receded.

As of 2pm today, Sungai Golok was measured at 10m which is 1m above its danger level of 9m.

Meanwhile, the number of evacuees have dropped to 10,502 as of 2pm today, compared with 12,600 yesterday.

According to the Welfare Department’s flood disaster portal, the 10,502 evacuees are taking shelter at 25 relief centres in Pasir Mas and Tumpat.

The other five relief centres were closed last night.

The first wave of floods hit Kelantan on Nov 29 and two people drowned in separate incidents in Tumpat and Pasir Putih on Monday. They are a 7-year-old boy and a 49-year-old labourer.
