Lack of communication, funds among issues raised by Amanah delegates

SHAH ALAM: Lack of funds to carry out party programmes and poor communication with Pakatan Harapan representatives in government were among the issues highlighted by delegates at the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) National Convention here, today.

Kelantan state vice chief Che Ibrahim Mohamed said that the lack of proper communication makes it difficult for party leaders to carry out programmes and activities at the grassroots level.

He feels so strongly about the matter, that he threatened not to contest the 15th general elections (GE15) if the problem persists.

Meanwhile, Jamzuri Ardani from Melaka said that press secretaries to ministers must communicate more closely with parties in Pakatan Harapan.

This, he said, is to ensure that party leaders and members are able to keep abreast of the government’s initiatives and allow them to implement the programmes more effectively.

Earlier, Wanita Muda Amanah Nasional (Warda) deputy chief Siti Fatihah Salahuddin proposed a mentorship programme with Pemuda Amanah Nasional (Pemuda) and Angkatan Wanita Amanah Negara (Awan) Nasional.

She said Warda, being the newly-formed wing, still needs guidance in politics from senior leaders in the party.

"We are not ashamed to admit that we are still young and need guidance from all of you to guide us in politics.

"We are still getting on our feet to (learn more) about politics. Therefore, it would be much appreciated if the national leadership, Pemuda and Awan would establish a mentorship programme with us. We are willing to learn and move forward to strengthen the party as a whole," she said in her speech in debating the president’s policy speech.

Fatihah, who is the daughter of party deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, also raised issues such as high unemployment rates among graduates, a lack of medical practitioners in the country, race relations and the need for more public engagement with the government.

She also called on party members to take part in environmental activities, especially in joining efforts to address climate change.
