PUTRAJAYA: The retail price of RON97 will be six sen lower for the coming week, beginning midnight tonight.
The Finance Ministry said that the price of RON97 will decrease from RM2.64 to RM2.58 per litre.
The pump prices of RON95 and diesel, however, remain unchanged.
In a statement, the Finance Ministry pointed out that without the government’s subsidy, the price of RON95 – calculated according to the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) – would be RM2.28 per litre, while diesel would cost RM2.34 per litre.
The government has capped the pump prices of RON95 at RM2.08 and diesel at RM2.18 as a means of reducing the cost of living.
Under the APM, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for a week.
The ministry added that the subsidy forked out by the government from tomorrow until Dec 27 is estimated at RM93.74 million – RM70.61 million for RON95 and RM23.13 million for diesel.
