KUANTAN: Two people were killed when the Proton Iswara they were travelling in collided with a lorry at Jalan Kampung Teroh in Karak, on Friday evening.
The identities of the victims have yet to be ascertained.
The driver of the lorry escaped unhurt.
The Karak Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call from a witness to the incident at 6.53pm.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department chief Nor Hisham Mohammed said that 10 personnel were deployed to the scene, along with a fire and rescue tender truck (FRT), an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) van, and a Toyota Hilux utility vehicle.
"The department's men took 20 minutes to extricate the victims from the Proton Iswara.
“The victims were declared dead shortly afterwards.
"The bodies were then handed over to the police for further action," he added.
