PAGOH: Rain failed to dampen the spirits of more than 100 villagers from Kampung Sri Meranti here from taking part in a telematch-cum-family day event recently.
Thought of gloomy weather and flood were replaced with happy faces throughout the day as they participated in fun-filled events such as folk games, competitive sports and other activities.
"We are now facing hard times and heavy spell of rain. Some areas are also flooded.
"This is the perfect time and activity for us to get this hardship off our minds for a little while and just enjoy a great time together." said village development committee head Mahadi Ramin.
He said the year end occasion was aimed at fostering togetherness and 'ukhuwah' (brotherhood) among the villagers.
"This whole-day event was filled with laughter and every one went home with prizes and souvenirs to enjoy and cherish." he said.
A special prayer was also held for those affected by floods.
