PUTRAJAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah today rubbished talk that he was among those being considered for the post of education minister following the resignation of Dr Maszlee Malik.
“It’s just speculation... ask the prime minister (Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad),” he said today during a press conference on the achievements of the Foreign Ministry last year and targets for this year.
Asked whether a cabinet reshuffle could be expected in the near future, he said: “Nehi (Hindi for no).”
Saifuddin and Jeli member of parliament Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed are among those rumoured to be potential successors to Maszlee at the helm of the Education Ministry.
Yesterday, Maszlee announced his resignation which took effect today, on the advice of Dr Mahathir.
