Dengkil rep arrest: Muhyiddin will not interfere with police investigation

SHAH ALAM: Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will not interfere with police investigations involving Dengkil state assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah who was arrested for a drug offence early Sunday morning.

Muhyiddin, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president, said he has been informed of Adhif’s arrest following a raid in Jalan Puchong.

The 39-year-old Adhif is Selangor Bersatu Youth chief and a first term Dengkil state assemblyman.

“I fully hand this over to the police to conduct investigations.

“I will not interfere in this case and the authorities must take action based on the legal process,” said Muhyiddin in a statement today.

Muhyiddin also clarified that an individual named Pizi Jihat who was also arrested in the raid was not his special officer as widely reported but a staff at Bersatu headquarters.

Bersatu vice-president and Selangor Bersatu chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari had earlier today confirmed that Adhif was arrested for an alleged drug offence.

Adhif, who reportedly tested positive for drugs, has denied that he was arrested.
