KOTA BARU: All seven clinical samples (throat swabs) sent by the Kelantan health department for Covid-19 validation tests recently tested negative.
Its director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the samples were taken from patients under investigation (PUIs). Five were sent to the Kota Baru Public lab in Perol while two to Perempuan Zainab II hospital here since last month.
"The first sample was sent on Jan 25 while the last was sent on Feb 10," he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Dr Zaini said the department had no plans to add more laboratories in the state for offering Covid-19 tests.
"At the moment, there is no requirement for that. The present two labs are enough to cope with the small number of samples taken from PUIs," he said, adding that health officers had been told to be on stand-by at the two labs which operate during office hours.
