Lynas Malaysia committed to making meaningful contribution to Malaysia

KUANTAN: Lynas Malaysia today reconfirmed that the company is meeting its commitments to prosperity in Malaysia.

The company has over 1,000 direct employees and contractors and makes a significant contribution to the local and national economy.

Lynas’ commitment is in line with Malaysia’s Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and the Key Economic Growth Activities (KEGA) as launched by Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Lynas Malaysia demonstrates this commitment to shared prosperity by:

• Employing Malaysians: Over 4,000 direct and indirect jobs created through Lynas Malaysia, 97 per cent of Lynas’ employees are Malaysians.

• Investing in the local and Malaysian economy: RM2.6 billion has been invested in plant and equipment since its launch, with local suppliers given priority and over RM600m spent in the local economy each year.

• Workforce skill development: The company employs 90 per cent skilled or highly skilled jobs paid with salaries well above the Malaysian average. Lynas Malaysia employees received 19,000 hours of training in FY2019.

• Supporting research and education: Lynas conducted 13 research projects with local partners in FY2019 and supported 240 students through local STEM education.

Lynas Malaysia also contributes to local communities through meaningful support and employment opportunities which directly contribute to local businesses.

As a result, Lynas is an integral part of Pahang’s shared prosperity and sustainable future of fair economic distribution.
