Police step up SOP against Covid-19 outbreak

PASIR MAS: Police will step up their Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) as part of continuous efforts to help the public as well as their own personnel fight the Covid-19 spread.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said the decision, which will take effect as soon as possible, was made during a meeting yesterday.

He said the move would also apply to its policemen on duty at prisons and airports in the country.

"We have decided to increase our SOP especially with regards to hygiene aspects.

"Our policemen will learn more on how to prevent infection and help reduce the risk of being infected," he said.

Abdul Hamid said it has been their duty to assist other agencies to deal with the outbreak.

Asked whether any policemen were affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, he said so far, only a driver was suspected of having the virus.

"He has been placed in an isolation ward for observation," he said.
