PUTRAJAYA: The government has formed a task force to ensure there is sufficient supply of food items as the country observes the Movement Control Order (MCO) to stop the transmission of Covid-19.
According to Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the task force is comprised of the International Trade and Industry Ministry, the Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs Ministry, and the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.
Ismail, who is also Defence Minister, said the task force will ensure that the entire food supply chain, including logistics, operates efficiently.
“We received reports that vehicles used to transport food items could not be used due to certain issues.
“This task force will look into and iron out all problems related to the entire chain, from production to the transportation of food items,” he told reporters here today.
