Pelita Nasi Kandar to close all outlets nationwide till end of MCO

BUTTERWORTH: All branches of the largest nasi kandar restaurant chain in the country, Pelita Nasi Kandar, will be closed from April 1 to 14.

In a statement, its management said only its main branch at Taman Chai Leng will operate but only to offer free packed Nasi Kandar to frontliners involved in enforcing the Movement Control Order (MCO).

"The main branch will open from 11am to 2pm but not for business.

"We will be giving away free 300 hampers for people in need. The head of the family who comes to collect the food must show their identity card to receive the hampers," the group executive director Datuk K. K. Sihabutheen said when contacted today.

Pelita has so far given away 78,362 packed nasi kandar with drinks to the frontliners since the MCO came into effect.
