Easier business recovery financing scheme application online

KUALA LUMPUR: Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) will have easier transactions after the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives ministry made available the Covid Business Recovery Financing Scheme (CBRM) application online.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the government recognised that entrepreneurs, especially SMEs were facing economic challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Business activities are unable to function normally after the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 18. To alleviate their difficulty Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced an additional RM10 billion under the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package especially for SMEs," he said in a statement today.

Wan Junaidi also brushed off allegations of restrictive conditions being imposed on SMEs affected by Covid-19, making it difficult for them to apply for the Special Assistance Facility.

"As the minister in charge of development and the well-being of our local entrepreneurs, I would like to point out that Tekun Nasional has facilitated the application of the Covid Business Recovery Financing Scheme (CBRM) online using 'Google Form' as well as email.

"Entrepreneurs can apply by filling in the form via the link - http://fas.tekun.gov.my/cbrm/, from April 16 and are only required to fulfil four requirements for the CBRM application online," he said.

He said the applicants only need to make sure that they sign the declaration form and attach with the application, the latest bank statement (1 month), Mykad copy of the applicant and their spouse, company registration card (SSM)/Local Council (PBT) business license/documents, as well as a copy of the applicant's utility bill, as proof of business to be eligible for the scheme.

However, Wan Junaidi cautioned that there can be a delay in the approval process due to several reasons, which includes situations such as failure to attach documents, incomplete information, or multiple applications submitted for scheme.

"The ongoing MCO also makes it hard for our Tekun Nasional staff to come to the respective branch offices to get the applicant's signature, once their application has been approved," he said.

Wan Junaidi said the government has allocated RM200 million for the CBRM scheme.

He is hopeful that the CBRM will help ease the burden of micro entrepreneurs and boost the nation’s economy even further.

As of April 17, Wan Junaidi said Tekun Nasional has received 7,681 applications for the scheme.

For more information, applicants can visit the Tekun website at www.tekun.gov.my or call 03-9059 8888.
