Civil servants have to make loan repayments during MCO

KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Sector Home Financing Board (LPPSA) loan repayment for civil servants resumes since they still receive salaries during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that civil servants still benefit from their salaries and for those under Grade 56, they also received an incentive of RM500.

“With regard to the government housing loan, as it was previously announced and answered by the government, government staff are still receiving their salaries as normal.

“The only ones not receiving salaries are the traders who are selling pisang goreng (banana fritters) and others.

“They received grants since they are unable to run their business during the MCO," he told the press conference in Putrajaya.

On April 9, it was reported that the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) called on the government to offer a three-month deferment on housing loans taken by civil servants via LPPSA.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri was also asked about claims by school bus operators that they had yet to receive aid from the government.

He said the case would be referred to the Finance Ministry as it was under its jurisdiction.

Earlier, Harian Metro reported more that more than 100 school bus operators in the East Coast had requested the government to offer the same aid towards them as they were unable to work since schools remain closed throughout the MCO period.
