Ekuinas donates RM10 million to help those affected by Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) today announced a RM10 million contribution through its Dana Ihsan Covid-19 Iltizam to aid those directly affected by the pandemic.

Its chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda said they hoped that the contribution could help alleviate the burden faced by hospitals, medical frontliners, affected families and communities, small and medium businesses as well as eligible staff of its portfolio companies due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The contribution consists of the following:

1. Medical equipment for hospitals, as well as food and apparel provisions for doctors, patients and the urban poor.

2. Financial support for the families of selected past and current trainees of Ekuinas’ graduate trainee programme, as well as enterprises under Ekuinas’ entrepreneurship mentoring programme.

3. Financial aid for eligible new students who will be attending educational institutions under Ekuinas’ portfolio of companies.

4. Financial assistance for eligible employees of Ekuinas’ portfolio companies.

5. Digitalisation support for Bumiputera Small Medium Enterprises.

Raja Arshad said the contribution was part of Ekuinas’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, as the battle against Covid-19 that began as a health crisis, had now become a major economic and humanitarian issue.

“Ekuinas salutes those who have been working tirelessly in helping the nation fight against the outbreak, and our hearts go out to those who have been affected by it.

“We hope our modest contribution will help, to some extent, the pressing needs of the healthcare community and provide some relief to the affected groups,” he said.

Iltizam by Ekuinas is a CSR initiative launched in 2016 with the aim to empower and nurture the growth of underprivileged communities in Malaysia.

It provides assistance to different segments of the society, including Bumiputera entrepreneurs, students, businesses, and selected communities.
