No Hari Raya visits under CMCO, even within same state

PUTRAJAYA: Visiting relatives for the purpose of celebrating Hari Raya is not allowed.

This is despite the fact that travelling restrictions have been eased under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), with the people allowed to travel more than 10km from home for specific reasons.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Hari Raya visiting was included in the list of prohibited activities during the CMCO, which came into force on May 4.

"Although the government has relaxed the restrictions for the people to travel, Hari Raya visiting is still not allowed since it is included in the list (of prohibited activities during the CMCO)," he said during an interview with the New Straits Times and Berita Harian.

The Defence Minister was asked to clarify whether people could visit their relatives within the same state for Hari Raya under the CMCO.

During a televised address in conjunction with Workers' Day earlier this month, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said although the government would enforce a CMCO by cautiously reopening a majority of economic sectors, social activities involving large gatherings and movements were still not permitted.

"Interstate travel for balik kampung trips during the Aidilfitri holidays is not allowed.

"The same applies for Hari Raya open houses, 'kenduri', and large breaking of fast events," Muhyiddin had said
