SOP for hair salons submitted for review by NSC and Health Ministry

PUTRAJAYA: The National Security Council (NSC) and Health Ministry are reviewing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for hair salons to operate, to ensure social distancing is practised.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he was informed that a hairdresser's association had recently submitted their SOPs to the authorities to allow their business to resume.

"A lot of people are still afraid to go (to salons) for a haircut, since it is quite difficult to maintain social distancing.

"We will leave it to the NSC and Health Ministry to review the SOPs submitted by the association.

"I will announce it (when the SOP is ready)," he said at a press conference today.

The government had allowed a majority of economic and social sectors to operate effective May 4.

Certain businesses including hair salons and barbershops, however, have yet to receive the green light to resume their activities.
