MOE will issue guidelines for schools

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry (MOE) will announce the official standard operating procedures (SOP) for reopening of schools post Covid-19.

Schools have remained closed during the Movement Control Order (MCO), which started March 18, and subsequent Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which is due to end June 9.

"Any statement regarding guidelines on post CMCO procedure for schools shall only come from MOE," the ministry said in a statement.

MOE was responding to a Bulletin Utama report on TV3 on Friday, highlighting proposals from the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) on SOPs for schools post Covid-19.

MSOSH's proposals included shorter school sessions, health screening, and hybrid learning, among others.

"The statement given by third party on Buletin Utama report tonight was not authorised by MOE. Therefore the news today was misleading," the statement added.
