Covid-19: 93 new cases, 61 discharged, no new deaths

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry recorded 93 new Covid-19 cases today, increasing the tally to 7,970 cases in the country.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 91 out of the 93 cases involved foreigners and the remaining two were local cases.

"Of the 91 cases, 55 were from the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot, and 36 were from the Pedas cluster," he said at his daily press conference today.

Dr Noor Hisham said the number of active cases in the country stood at 1,324.

They have since been isolated and treated.

He added that 61 more patients have been cured and discharged, bringing the total to 6,531 cases (81.9 per cent) nationwide.

The ministry, he said, recorded no new deaths.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said the foreign workers in the Pedas cluster who tested positive had been isolated at quarantine centres and were unable to transmit the virus to the community.

He said to date, the total number of people who tested positive in this cluster was at 256.

"The positive cases from this cluster include 14 Malaysians and 242 foreigners from Nepal (136), Bangladesh (55), Myanmar (26), Indonesia (21), India (three) and Vietnam (one).
