Happy 175th anniversary!

KUALA LUMPUR: It was a joyous celebration albeit a more low-key affair, as the New Straits Times celebrated its 175th anniversary today in the wake of Covid-19.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah sent their best wishes with a cake, which was presented by Istana Negara's Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin during a visit to Balai Berita here, today.

NST group editor Ahmad Lokman Mansor received the cake on behalf of the newspaper.

Glomac Berhad, Bank Rakyat, Bank Simpanan Nasional and Pandora also presented cakes to the NST Editorial team, which were received by NST's executive editor Sofea Chok Suat Ling.

As part of the celebration, NST is currently running a series of retrospective articles written by its past and present journalists. Articles posted on NST's social media accounts are also accompanied by hashtags #NST175 and #TogetherWithYou to mark the occasion.
