Johor MB showcases state's successes in his two-year anniversary video [WATCH]

JOHOR BARU: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi unveiled a video highlighting the state's milestones achieved under his leadership commemorating his second-year anniversary in office on Friday.

On March 15, 2022, he was officially sworn in as Johor's 19th menteri besar.

He attempted to summarise the achievements within two minutes in the footage.

Within the past two years, Johor received RM113.7 billion in investments and generated 35,000 job opportunities, while 444km of roads, including Jalan Pasir Gudang, Jalan Masai Lama, and Jalan Sungai Tiram, among other major roads were upgraded.

The weekly Fajr congregational prayers – Semarak Subuh, initiated by Onn Hafiz, have been organised across all 56-state legislative assembly in Johor.

Congestion and facilities at both land entry points at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complexes in Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Komplex Sultan Abu Bakar are improving positively and progressively.

Contra-flow lanes were implemented, additional bus routes, and the eight-second-immigration-clearance MBike system was introduced, which benefitted some 300,000 users daily.

Several internationally acclaimed events such as the Asia Pacific Climate Week, Johor Smart City Forum and the Johor International Youth Conference, were organised.

Tourist attractions and destinations had upgrading and refurbishment works.

Among them are the Royal Abu Bakar Museum in the Istana Besar grounds and the Johor Zoo.

While facilities and amenities at six national parks were upgraded, while the Gunung Belumut Eco Park and Gunung Lambak were enhanced with hiking trails.

In terms of housing, 4,278 affordable homes under the Johor Affordable Housing scheme (RMMJ) were completed and delivered to its recipients, while 13 People's Housing Project (PPR) were repaired and upgraded, while other government-aided housing schemes were also repaired for the comfort of the people.

The state government allocated RM438.6 million to 2,647 people identified as hardcore poor, while the underprivileged, disabled, senior citizens, children with chronic diseases among others also benefitted from the fund to support their livelihood.

Onn Hafiz also thanked the Johor royal family for their generous contributions that benefited the rakyat, school students as well as cancer patients.

He said the royal family assisted with the flood relief, donating rice, food, tents and made cash donations to the victims and rakyat in need, while some 20 schools received educational smart TVs and smart boards.

The state government took on various initiatives to empower the youths to equip them as future leaders.

Educational, sports, vocational centres, education loans, skills training, youth councils, leadership programmes and scholarships, among others were the initiatives and programmes provided.

Onn Hafiz attempted to summarise the state accomplishments within two minutes to mark his second anniversary, but the footage uploaded on his Facebook page was five minutes and 55 seconds.

He apologised for exceeding the two-minute target.

"These achievements over the past two years would not have been possible without the support and efforts of all parties, including federal and state government agencies," he said, while thanking the rakyat for the opportunity to serve them.
