51-year-old man fined RM1,000 for defying quarantine order

MANJUNG: A 51-year-old man under Covid-19 home quarantine was arrested at an eatery in Kampung Jering, Ayer Tawar, here, yesterday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Nor Omar Sappi said the man who had a pink wristband, indicating that he had undergone checks for coronavirus infection, was spotted wandering at the eatery.

"Upon checking the tag, we found out that the man's quarantine period is from July 18 to Aug 1," he said today.

He said because of this, the man has violated Regulation 10 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.

He was than slapped with a RM1,000 compound.

Nor Omar reminded the public to immediately alert the police if they come across individuals wearing pink wristband in public places.

"Stern action will be taken against those who failed to adhere to the home quarantine order".
