134 detained for violating RMCO SOPs

KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained 134 individuals yesterday for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said from the total, 19 were remanded while 93 were issued with compounds and 22 granted bail.

"Among the violations include activities at unlicensed massage centres (12), activities that were against the SOPs (33), other activities that made physical distancing difficult to observe (88), and non-compliance of the Home Surveillance Order (1)," he said in a statement today.

Ismail Sabri also said the RMCO Compliance Operations Task Force led by the police yesterday had conducted 54,582 inspections to monitor and enforce the SOP.

"A total of 2,610 compliance team comprising 11,970 personnel conducted inspections at 3,598 supermarkets, 4,937 restaurants, 1,399 hawker stalls, 1,135 factories, 3,481 banks and 640 government offices.

"Also inspected were 1,025 land transport terminals, 153 water transport terminals, and 80 air transport terminals."

Ismail Sabri said police had carried out surveillance at 2,294 mosques involving 283,355 individuals (in congregations) to ensure compliance with the SOP set for Friday prayers.

"It was found that everyone adhered to the SOP set as well as according to the size of the mosque area."

On Op Benteng, he said police yesterday inspected 30,719 vehicles in 63 roadblocks nationwide to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country, particularly via "rat lanes".
