200 in Napoh file lawsuit against Nasi Kandar shop owner

A LAWSUIT has been filed against the owner of Nasi Kandar Salleh by 200 residents in Napoh, Jitra at the Alor Setar High Court today.

They are claiming RM1.5 million in damages from the restaurant's owner Nezar Mohamed Shabur Batcha, 57, for causing the Covid-19 Sivagangga cluster.

The lawsuit was filed by Kedah Consumers' Association (CAKE) on behalf of the residents in Napoh.

Nezar Mohamed who returned from India, had violated his mandatory 14-day home quarantine order by going to his restaurant.

As he later tested positive for the novel coronavirus, he became the index case to the Sivagangga Cluster which has since recorded cases in at least three states.
