SK Permatang Janggus Year One, Two students return to school today

KEPALA BATAS: With their second COVID-19 screening tests returning negative, Year sOne and Two students of SK Permatang Janggus, Penaga, returned to school today after ending their 14-day quarantine that began on Oct 2.

This development was confirmed by the school's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) president, Zainal Abidin Omar, after the school premises was verified safe to resume normal operations by the Health Ministry.

"We are pleased to learn that all samples are negative after the second screenings were completed. The premises have also been decontaminated by the Penang State Health Department twice.

"Parents, guardians and students should not worry as the Penang State Health Department have conducted the intensive and detailed decontamination process twice on all classrooms and special rooms, especially risk areas," he said.

Zainal Abidin added that the school authorities remain vigilant and have never neglected safety procedures and will continue to tighten its standard operating procedures (SOP) from time to time to ensure that the Covid-19 chain is broken.

"We hope that parents and guardians will encourage the students to continue attending school to ensure that the percentage of school attendance is not low.

"Adherence to COVID-19 prevention SOPs is our priority. Parents can help the school authorities to overcome the disease by constantly reminding their children to always obey the SOPs," he said.

Meanwhile, checks by Bernama found that parents have begun to send their children to the school once again, with increased traffic around the school.

On Oct 2, SK Permatang Janggus was ordered to close by the Penang State Health Department after a teacher at the school tested positive for COVID-19.

The school was verified safe to reopen on Oct 9 by the Health Ministry although it only involved Year Three, Four, Five and Six students at that time. – BERNAMA
