Two new Covid-19 clusters in Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Penang

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has detected two new Covid-19 clusters in the country.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Cergas cluster was registered in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, with index patient – Case 30,751 – testing positive after displaying symptoms on Oct 29.

Close contacts were then screened, with 11 people testing positive for Covid-19. They were sent to Rembau Hospital, Tampin Hospital and Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Dr Noor Hisham said.

"As of Nov 3, 144 people have been screened, with 12 testing positive for Covid-19, including 10 new cases today, while 126 tested negative and six are awaiting results," he said in a press conference today.

Meanwhile, the Permatang cluster is linked to patients in Kulim, Kedah, as well as Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Timur Laut (in Penang), he said.

The index patient – Case 34,174 – was a patient with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) at a private medical centre, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 31, and was transferred to Penang Hospital.

"Seven others tested positive for Covid-19 and were admitted to Penang Hospital.

"A total of 97 people were screened, eight of whom tested positive for Covid-19, including three new cases today. Meanwhile, 74 others tested negative and 15 are awaiting results."
