2 new Covid-19 clusters linked to cases in 4 states

KUALA LUMPUR: The Heath Ministry detected two new Covid-19 clusters involving cases in Selangor, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan and Melaka.

Its director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the index patient Case 33122 for the Ikhtisas cluster tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing pre-surgery test on Oct 29 and was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"Following this, close contacts were screened with 21 people tested positive for Covid-19 and were sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"As of Nov 8 (today), a total of 362 have been screened, with 22 tested positive for Covid-19 including eight new cases today, 213 negative and 127 still awaiting results," he said in a statement today, adding that the cases were detected in the Petaling and the Klang districts (Selangor); Jeli in Kelantan, and Seremban in Negri Sembilan.

For the Berendam cluster, it was linked to patients in Alor Gajah and Melaka Tengah in Melaka, he said.

He said index patients Case 32489, Case 39353 and Case 39354 tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 30.

"A total of 1,861 people were screened as of noon today, of which eight tested positive for Covid-19 including three new cases. Meanwhile, 109 others tested negative for Covid-19 and 1,744 awaiting results."

Dr Noor Hisham also said the Putra and Kuarters clusters in Sarawak and Sabah, respectively had ended today.
