EMCO at Taman Mesra, Plaza Hentian Kajang and Medan 88 lifted

KUALA LUMPUR: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Taman Mesra in Sandakan, Plaza Hentian Kajang and Medan 88 in Salak Tinggi will be lifted as scheduled.

Announcing this today, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Covid-19 situation has improved at these three localities.

He said the residents, however still have to comply with the Conditional MCO standard operating procedures that is still in effect in Sabah and Selangor.

"The EMCO at Taman Mesra, Sandakan began on Oct 28 and was extended until tomorrow (Nov 24). As of today, The Health Ministry has conducted 1,171 tests, with a total of 174 cases recorded in the locality.

"The Health Ministry has confirmed that only 43 actives cases were detected between Nov 8 and Nov 21, hence, the special cabinet meeting agreed that the CMCO at Taman Mesra will end as scheduled," he said.

As for Plaza Hentian Kajang, which had been under EMCO since Oct 28, the senior defence minister said a total of 462 positive cases were recorded in the locality, resulting from 5,752 screenings done.

"All samples at the locality have been collected and there are no pending results, hence, the EMCO will be lifted as scheduled tomorrow."

Meanwhile, he said the EMCO at Medan 88, Salak Tinggi, Sepang enforced since Nov 12 would end on Nov 25.

"The ministry has so far tested 619 individuals with 56 positive cases registered in the locality.

"Risk assessment conducted by the ministry shows a downtrend in cases and the situation is now under control, hence, the EMCO will end as scheduled," he said.
