KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a weather warning alert for Kelantan and Terengganu in the east coast as well as Sabah.
It said heavy rain is expected to occur over the states of Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai); Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu); and, Sabah: Interior, West Coast and Kudat; as well as Labuan until Monday.
Heavy rain is also expected to occur over Sarawak in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah and Bintulu until later today.
On Saturday, it issued an orange level weather alert for several districts in Sabah until tomorrow, and a yellow level weather alert for several areas in Kelantan and Terengganu until Monday.
It said under the orange level alert, continuous heavy rain is expected in Sabah, involving the areas of Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud as well as in Labuan.
The yellow level alert issued on Saturday was for the districts of Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai in Kelantan as well as the areas of Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu in Terengganu.
