Covid-19: 1,123 new cases

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of daily recoveries today is higher than the number of new Covid-19 cases.

New cases recorded are 1,123, bringing the tally of infections nationwide to 71,359, including 10,775 active cases, while the number of those who have recovered from the virus are 1,143.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, only five were imported.

He said the Klang Valley recorded the highest daily cases at 490 (43.6 per cent), followed by Sabah (391 or 34.8 per cent).

Dr Noor Hisham said 40 cases involved clusters at temporary detention centres and prisons, namely the PTS Sibuga cluster with 27 cases and Tembok cluster with 13 cases.

A total of 130 Covid-19 positive patients are being treated at intensive care units at hospitals, with 54 requiring breathing assistance.

"Four more Covid-19 deaths are recorded today (two in Sabah, one each in Johor and Selangor), bringing the tally of deaths nationwide to 380," he added.
