3,306 new Covid-19 cases, 4 new deaths today

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 3,306 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, raising the tally of cumulative infections nationwide to 161,740.

According to a Facebook infographic posted by the Health Ministry a short while ago, the country now has 38,791 active cases.

It added that seven of the new cases were imported.

Meanwhile, the number of fatalities registered today was four, raising the death toll to 605.

The deceased were three men and a woman, aged 91, 78, 77 and 59, who died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu and Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor.

They had a medical history of high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, heart and liver disease, diabetes and adrenal insufficiency.

Up to 226 patients are being treated in intensive care, with 94 requiring breathing assistance, said the Health Ministry.

It added that 2,293 patients were declared recovered today, bringing the total to 122,344.
