14 new Covid-19 deaths, 3,631 cases today

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia continues to log four-digit daily Covid-19 cases, with 3,631 infections recorded today.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today's tally brings the cumulative number of cases to 165,371, with 39,464 active cases.

Selangor logged the most number of cases at 1,199.

He said of the new cases, seven are imported, while the rest are local transmissions.

"Of the local transmissions, 2,754 involve locals, while 870 are foreigners," he said in a press conference here.

"From the total, 884 cases, or 73.7 per cent, are from clusters and close contact tracing actively conducted on the field.

Dr Noor Hisham said 14 fatalities were reported today and the death toll now stands at 619.

He said 238 patients are currently in intensive care, with 96 requiring breathing support.

Meanwhile, 2,944 more patients have recovered, taking the recovery tally to 125,288.
