Only one pct of i-Sinar applications rejected, says Tengku Zafrul

PUTRAJAYA: To date, only one per cent of the total applications received for the i-Sinar facility under Employees Provident Fund (EPF) have been rejected.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said that at present, 65 per cent of the applications for i-Sinar have been approved while 35 per cent are still in the processing stage.

"As announced yesterday, the government will simplify the application process for the i-Sinar facility advance withdrawal for Category 2 under the Permai Assistance Package (Permai)," said Tengku Zafrul during a media briefing on the Permai package today.

The government, he said, would continue to adopt and implement a targeted approach to help those directly affected by the adverse economic impact unleashed by the global pandemic.

"If we adopt an 'open for all' approach, the (country's) resources will be stretched. It is better to support the needy than provide unnecessary blanket assistance for those who do not need them," he said.
