1,555 new Covid-19 cases over past 24 hours lowest since emergency declared [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of new Covid-19 cases continue to dip to 1,555 cases as of noon today, the lowest since the state of emergency was declared.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of infections in the country to 304,135, with 24,563 active cases.

"From the total, 71.4 per cent are cases among locals, while 28.6 per cent of the cases involved foreigners," he said in a press conference today.

Selangor continued to record the most number of cases with 672, or 43.2 per cent of the total number of cases reported today.

Johor logged 163 cases, while Sarawak registered 159.

Dr Noor Hisham said another 2,528 patients had recovered, increasing the cumulative number of recoveries to 278,431 (91.5 per cent).

He also said currently, there are 204 patients being treated in the intensive care unit, with 96 needing ventilator support.

The country also reported six deaths today - three in Selangor, and one each in Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Perak.
