Keningau returns to MCO from tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: The Keningau district in Sabah will be placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO) starting tomorrow until Apr 4.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the two-week MCO is to enable the Health Ministry (MoH) to conduct targeted screenings, detect close contacts and control movement after a spike in Covid-19 cases in the locality.

"MoH has informed that there is a spike in daily cases in the Keningau district as 42 positive cases were detected from targeted screenings conducted at Kg Lingkudau, an area which is now under Conditional MCO.

"After carrying out a risk assessment with other agencies during the technical meeting and upon MoH's recommendation, the government has agreed to implement MCO in the Keningau district from Mar 22 to Apr 4," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, he also announced that the Enhanced MCO (EMCO) at Kampung Tanah Merah, Kota Marudu, Sabah will be lifted as scheduled on Mar 22.

"As of now, MoH had conducted 65 screenings and a total of 26 Covid-19 cases were recorded.

"MoH informed that cases in the locality are in a downtrend and the active clusters are under control, hence, the EMCO at Kampung Tanah Merah, Kota Marudu, Sabah, will end as scheduled tomorrow," he said.
