Third day in a row Covid-19 cases surge past 2,000

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of Covid-19 cases continue to increase with 2,331 reported as of noon today, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

This is the third day in a row daily cases surged past the 2,000 mark in weeks. The total number of recorded Covid-19 cases in Malaysia now stands at 372,859.

Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 2,551 cases, while on Thursday, the country recorded 2,148 new cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said most of the cases today were in Selangor at 751.

So far, Selangor has recorded 123,158 positive Covid-19 cases.

The state with the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases is Sarawak with 512.

This is followed by Kelantan with 225, Kuala Lumpur (252), Sabah (163), Penang (116), Johor (100), Negri Sembilan (89), Kedah (45), Perak (42), Pahang (20), Melaka (nine), Putrajaya (four), Labuan (two) and Perlis (one).

Terengganu saw no new recorded cases as of noon.
