JEMPOL: 10 students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato' Penghulu Luak Jempol, here, have been confirmed as Covid-19 positive.
District disaster management and safety committee chairman Syahrul Nizam Saleh said they were believed to have contracted the virus from family members.
"These cases are not linked to any school clusters. The cause of the infections are still under investigation by the Jempol health district office," he told Berita Harian via Whatsapp today.
Separately, school headmaster Jeffry Ros Abu Kassim, in a Facebook post, asked for the public to pray for the wellbeing of the students.
The school had also handed food aid to the families of the affected students.
Yesterday, the district registered 21 fresh cases bringing the cumulative positive infections to 477.
"Of the number, 58 people are being treated while 156 are serving home quarantine. Eight deaths have been recorded so far," Syahrul said.
He added that there have been 212 active cases in the past 14-days.
