Do not leave home unless it is really urgent, pleads Dr Noor Hisham

KUALA LUMPUR: With Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds running out to treat Covid-19 patients, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has appealed to the people to stay indoors to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Dr Noor Hisham asked the people to help the Health Ministry do their part for the next two weeks during the extended Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0.

"I plead to Malaysians to assist the ministry by imposing self-lockdown.

"Please stay at home. If you and your family are infected with Covid-19, we do not have enough ICU beds.

"If you have to leave home for urgent matters, comply with all Standard Operating Procedures. Avoid 3S and practice 3W.

"Help us help your family," he said on his official Facebook and Twitter pages.

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had on Friday announced that the current MCO 3.0 will be prolonged for two more weeks from June 15 to June 28.

This was due to the Covid-19 situation in the country where the daily cases continue to record an average of over 5,000 new infections a day.

The decision to continue the MCO 3.0 came after the ministry made the proposal in a special National Security Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
