BATU PAHAT: A supermarket maintenance worker died after falling into a sewerage hole while on duty near here, yesterday.
Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said, in the incident at about 8.20pm, the victim identified as Yazali Yakub, 52, is believed to have fallen into the four-metre deep hole.
"The victim was retrieved by fire department personnel and was confirmed dead by the health officer on duty.
"The body was then sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI), Batu Pahat for autopsy," he said in a statement, here.
Ismail said the case was classified as sudden death and further investigations were still underway.
