Vaccinations at MIECC suspended several hours after recipient informed she is Covid-positive

PUTRAJAYA: The vaccination process at the Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) was suspended for a few hours today when a woman who turned up for her appointment found out she was infected with Covid-19.

The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) said the woman was only told she was Covid-positive after arriving at the centre.

"She was already at the vaccination centre (PPV) when a staff at the medical centre where she had undergone Covid-19 screening contacted her.

"The PPV management took immediate action to isolate the woman and a sanitisation process was conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department," it said in a statement, adding that the operations at the centre resumed soon after the process was completed.

CITF advised vaccine recipients who had received appointment dates but were awaiting results for their Covid-19 test against coming to the PPV.

They would then receive a new appointment date, it said.

On a different matter, CITF denied claims that a woman wearing a Health Ministry pink wristband was present at the MIECC to accompany her mother.

A social media user had earlier uploaded a video at an unknown PPV on an individual who only admitted being infected with Covid-19 when brought to its waiting area.

The person who posted the video, believed to be a personnel at the PPV, said the centre had to be sanitised before it could resume operation.
